Liverpool Cruise Port invites city and port partners to Coastal Cleanup Day
Join us for a day of environmental action and biodiversity learning at Crosby
Liverpool Cruise Port is inviting organisations from across Liverpool’s port and city community to join its Coastal Cleanup Day at Crosby Marina on Wednesday 2 September 2026.
The event, Liverpool Cruise Port’s flagship sustainability initiative of the year, will bring together up to 100 volunteers to make a practical difference to the local coastal environment. Participation is completely free of charge, with port partners, city organisations and other stakeholders encouraged to bring teams of volunteers.
The day will begin with a coordinated litter pick across Crosby beach and the surrounding dunes. Volunteers will then enjoy lunch at Crosby Lakeside before taking part in a biodiversity presentation and guided tour delivered in partnership with Green Sefton.
The programme has been designed to combine meaningful environmental action with an opportunity to learn more about the importance of Crosby’s coastal habitats, the wildlife they support and how organisations and individuals can help protect them.
John Mawer, GPH UK Ports General Manager, said:
“This will be a fantastic opportunity for Liverpool’s port and city partners to come together and make a real difference to our local coastline.”
“As well as helping to clear litter from Crosby beach and dunes, volunteers will learn more about the area’s wildlife and habitats through a biodiversity presentation and guided tour in partnership with Green Sefton.”
“Participation is completely free, and we would be delighted to welcome organisations from across the city to join us and help fill the 100 available places.”
The Liverpool event forms part of Global Ports Holding’s wider international sustainability initiative, bringing ports and their partners together under the theme: “From Every Port, For Every Coast.” In 2025 Global Ports Holding volunteers across 19 countries participated, removing more than 1.2 tonnes of debris.
