Liverpool Cruise Port launches Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Programme

15 September 2026 – Liverpool Cruise Port is proud to be part of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower programme, helping us provide a more accessible and inclusive experience for all guests. The Sunflower symbol allows people with non-visible disabilities, conditions or chronic illnesses to discreetly indicate that they may need additional time, understanding or support. Our team has received dedicated training to recognise the Sunflower and assist guests throughout their port experience.

The programme launches at Liverpool Cruise Port today, 15 September 2026, supporting Global Ports Holding’s commitment to creating a more accessible, inclusive and welcoming experience for all guests.

Non-visible disabilities and conditions can include autism, dementia, anxiety, sensory impairments and chronic illnesses, which can make busy travel environments more challenging for some guests. Anyone choosing to wear the Sunflower is not required to disclose or explain their condition.

As part of the programme, Sunflower lanyards and information materials will be available at designated locations at Liverpool Cruise Port. Port partners and stakeholders are also being encouraged to promote awareness among their teams, particularly those working in customer-facing roles.

Liverpool Cruise Port will work alongside its partners and stakeholders to help provide a consistent and inclusive experience throughout the passenger journey, from arriving at the port through to exploring Liverpool and the wider destination.
